NSERC IRC Thermochemical Conversion of Biomass and Waste to Bioindustrial Resources
Professor Franco Berruti holds the NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Thermochemical Conversion of Biomass and Waste to Bioindustrial Resources. This Chair was developed to tackle the problems of waste generation by increasing resource recovery and moving towards a circular economy, aiming at a zero-waste with zero greenhouse gas emissions from the waste sector. The research focuses on the development of innovative and practical solutions for the transformation of biomass, organic residues, co-products and wastes, using thermochemical technologies, into value-added products that can be successfully commercialized, generating simultaneously environmental and economic benefits, jobs and wealth creation.
