Professional Biography

Dr. Naomi Klinghoffer graduated with a B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. She then earned an M.S. and then a Ph.D. (2013) in Earth and Environmental Engineering from Columbia University, New York, USA. Prior to joining Western University, Dr. Klinghoffer was Principal Engineer at Gas Technology Institute, Des Plaines, Illinois, working on CO2 capture and conversion to fuels and chemicals. In August 2019, Dr. Klinghoffer started as an Assistant Professor in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Western University. She works on-campus and at the Institute for Chemicals and Fuels from Alternative Resources (ICFAR) where she is an active member of the NSERC IRC in Thermochemical Conversion of Biomass and Waste to Bioindustrial Resources.

 


 

Research Interests

Dr. Klinghoffer is interested in the thermochemical conversion of biomass and waste, biochar activation and functionalization, catalytic applications of biochar, catalytic synthesis of renewable fuels, and carbon dioxide utilization.
